September  2007.

Dear Parents,

We would like to welcome you back to our school.  We hope you have enjoyed your summer holidays and had a nice rest.   We would like to welcome all our new pupils to school including our three Junior Infant classes who have made a great start.   The children look very well in their new uniforms and we wish you all a very successful academic year at St. Paul’s N.S.

Building Project.

Our temporary accommodation for Mr. Walsh’s 4th class is being constructed as we speak.   It will take approximately 10 more days to complete and the class will be entering a completely new prefab behind the school. The Department of Education and Science are currently considering building a new school on our playing field.  We hope to have a definite answer by the end of the month.

Parking/Traffic.

We would like to remind all parents, visitors and collecting crèches etc. that driving into the school yard to collect children is prohibited.  All cars and buses must remain outside the school.   Parents/guardians dropping off children are asked not to park in front of driveways of local residents or on yellow lines and to please observe parking signs.   There are white lines provided outside the school for children to cross over the road.  Our priority is the safety of the children.

Swimming.

The 1st and 2nd classes will be going swimming next Monday 17th September to the arena pool at U.L.   The six classes will receive swimming lessons for the next 10 weeks.   All pupils have received a note about the lessons and each teacher has been given a time for their class.

Appointments to meet Teachers/Principal.

We encourage parent/teacher communication in our school.   If anyone wishes to meet a teacher or the Principal they can do so by making an appointment through the school secretary Susan.

Art&Craft Money/Photocopying.

We would like to thank all the parents who have paid for there materials etc. up  to now and remind parents that they can still send in the required fee (which is on the booklist of your child) to the class teacher or Susan in the coming week.

The U 10’s got off to a flying start in the boys section by beating St. Nessan’s.   They are coached by Mr. R. Walsh and Mr. A. O’Brien, and they train on Tuesday evenings after school.

Spring Onion Puppet Theatre.

All classes in St. Paul’s will have the opportunity to enjoy a performance by “Spring Onion Puppet Theatre in October.  The show “Androcles and the Lion” will be held in school hall in October 10th, 11th, 12th but to be confirmed for a cost of €2.50 per student.  According to reports from other schools, the show was excellent – very well adapted to various age groups and the workshop following it was both stimulating, and enjoyable.

Thanking You,
